Dharma Talk by Venerable Master Renda: #Master your six roots, do not seek outwardly# Sometimes, the beautiful scenery in front of your eyes are so fresh and delightful that you linger on them irresistibly. But for practitioners we cannot attach to them. The six roots of eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body and mind, interact with six dusts of forms, sound, odor, taste, sensation and dharma respectively, generate six consciousnesses of eye consciousness, ear consciousness, nose consciousness, tongue consciousness, body consciousness and mind consciousness. All the afflictions in life are due to idle thoughts, discrimination and attachment of the generated six consciousnesses by the climbing and clinging of six roots to six dusts. Practitioners catch thieves, namely take care of their own six roots, do not seek outwardly, practice the pure mind. Be perfectly clear about every emerging thoughts.
